We always cook fresh meals in our boarding school kitchen. The ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible and there is always a vegetarian option to choose from. As we have our own modern kitchen and dining room at the Schloss-Schule and the food is freshly prepared every day, our kitchen team is able to cater to individual wishes, diets, allergies and intolerances.
"Eating and drinking keeps body and soul together." - We at the Schloss-Schule also take this old German proverb to heart.
The three main meals are supplemented by a second breakfast during the big break and afternoon coffee, which of course includes tea and hot chocolate.
At lunch, there is a fixed seating arrangement and compulsory attendance for all our pupils at the boarding school. A fixed ritual ensures order during the meal, which always consists of a large and fresh salad buffet, a main course with or without meat and a dessert.
Our teachers sit together with their groups at this communal lunch. They gain an overview, e.g. of sick children, can remind them of appointments and also work a little on their table manners. "Announcements" at the end of the meal ensure that important information is "received" by all pupils.

Head of Home Economics Angelika Siebert:
A family atmosphere is very important to us, which is why we are always looking to interact with the pupils. Our aim is to spoil "our children" and do something good for them. If we can make our pupils smile and see the beaming faces when they eat, then we are satisfied.
One of our special features is the "formal dinner", which takes place around four times a year. Everyone goes to this evening event in festive dress and there is a special 3-course meal - together with the whole boarding school. This takes place, for example, as part of a Thanksgiving dinner with turkey and sweet potatoes or as a Chinese New Year celebration with various Chinese dishes.
A healthy diet is important - that's why we always have plenty of fruit, including take-away fruit for the students, and vegetables. We teach our students the need to look after themselves, the world and everyone's health in everything we do and therefore place great importance on teaching them values such as sustainability and regionality.
