Connection of school and riding boarding school Germany
Our equestrian sports club and our equestrian boarding school offer all horse enthusiasts the opportunity to combine their passion for horses and equestrian sports with school and the performance requirements of school. Thanks to the optimal integration of school and our affiliated equestrian boarding school, in a small, very personal unit with short distances, we are able to achieve this in the best possible way. The individual training plans are tailored to the timetables and curricula at the grammar school in order to develop in the same concentrated way at school as in equestrian sport.

From beginner to high level for equestrian athletes in riding club and equestrian boarding school
Children and young people who are interested in horses and equestrian sports(dressage, show jumping, eventing) will find ideal conditions with us. Our internal equestrian sports club offers all horse enthusiasts, beginners as well as advanced riders at a high level, a wide range of opportunities. The equestrian sports club takes place in the nearby village of Saurach at Martin Fundis' equestrian sports center. This full-time equestrian sports representative at our school takes care of all the needs of our equestrian enthusiasts, gives riding lessons, introduces interested parties to horses and riding and supports our pupils in their progress in equestrian sports.
The riding school has an indoor riding arena (40 x 20 m), extensive stables, a grass jumping arena, an outdoor sand arena and a spacious outdoor area.
Riding lessons in dressage, show jumping and cross-country
If you would like to improve your equestrian skills at the Schloss-Schule Kirchberg riding boarding school, you can be trained by Martin Fundis in the areas of dressage, show jumping and cross-country. Martin Fundis is an experienced horse trainer and an internationally active and successful advanced (S) level show jumper and dressage rider. Thanks to his many years of competition experience, he is a competent partner for riding students during training and when taking part in competitions.
Our children and young people are driven to the riding stables in the school's own shuttle minibuses. Horses brought along by boarding school pupils can also be stabled there, with a riding service if required. The Fundis riding stables are also home to the boarding school's four school horses, which are available to our children and young people for grooming and riding.
Our Schloss-Schule boarding school focuses on teaching a sense of responsibility
Working in the stables and caring for the horses is a natural part of "everyday riding". The children and young people learn that horses need to be moved and cared for every day and in all weathers. This strengthens self-discipline to a great extent and helps with this, develop a sense of responsibilityWe see the horse as a partner - this is where teamwork is learned.
The children and young people learn that success does not come "just like that", but has to be worked for hard and again and again through constant practice and overcoming. They can gain a partner for life here - especially young people who have been bullied or have had bad social experiences benefit enormously from this.
Team spirit, community and self-reflection - important topics at the Schloss-Schule
Our equestrian sports club takes part in equestrian boarding school comparison tournaments, among other things, bringing pupils into contact with other boarding schools and also focusing on the team spirit and the community of children and young people at these events.
The pupils who actively participate in the equestrian sports club often travel independently at weekends or during the vacations to take part in tournaments or (riding badge) courses and learn to reflect on themselves in this way .
Through their interest in riding, they quickly make acquaintances and later perhaps even friendships with like-minded people.
One of the few equestrian boarding schools in Germany
Schloss-Schule Kirchberg in Kirchberg an der Jagst in Baden-Württemberg is one of the few schools in Germany that offers its pupils a wide range of equestrian opportunities as a boarding school. It is also probably the only school in southern Germany that employs a full-time equestrian sports officer.
Advantages of a riding boarding school in Germany's southwest: many options for riding out into the countryside
The natural surroundings around Schloss-Schule Kirchberg and the riding stables in Saurach are perfect for promoting equestrian sports and riding from a school perspective at our riding boarding school, the Schloss-Schule in south-west Germany. The place where the boarding school is located offers everything that makes up a small town with a good infrastructure, but is also surrounded by an idyllic landscape - with forests, meadows and fields that are predestined for riding.
Interesting facts about the Schloss-Schule riding club:
In the Schloss-Schule's riding group, both beginners and pupils who are more advanced in equestrian sports can discover or live out their enthusiasm for horses. Riding at school or boarding school is made accessible to all interested pupils with this riding program.

Former pupil, Antonia von der Schulenburg:
I came to the Schloss-Schule Kirchberg because I am very keen on riding and wanted to practise this sport even more intensively alongside school. That worked very well at the Schloss-Schule. During my time here, I had the opportunity to take part in many tournaments and courses - no effort was spared here.
Personally, I really enjoyed my time at the Schloss-Schule. Riding gave me a good balance to school and I was able to improve my performance both at school and while riding.

Further development of equestrian boarding school Germany and equestrian sports AG

Through our cooperation with the German Equestrian Federation (FN), the German umbrella organization for everything that has to do with "riding", we try to constantly improve and scrutinize the riding boarding school in Germany and our riding club at the Schloss-Schule; to constantly develop ourselves further. Not coming to a standstill is our ultimate goal!
As part of our professionalization, we have founded our own association, the "Reitverein Schloss-Schule Kirchberg/Jagst e.V.", through which our students can participate in tournaments. Martin Fundis also acts as a riding instructor here and provides advice and support. Membership of this association is free of charge for Schloss pupils.
Riding and equestrian sports - why horses are also so valuable educationally!
Riding is also a lesson for life from an educational point of view by taking responsibility for a living being and treating horses as equal partners! And a positive experience in the personal development of our children, as the awareness of acting responsibly also strengthens their self-confidence.
In addition, exercise with a horse has been proven to have a positive effect on mental and academic performance, concentration and, thanks to the variety it provides, on pupils' motivation and willingness to learn.
This is more than just a reason to establish and intensify horse riding in schools and boarding schools with a variety of activities.
The Schloss-Schul-Team of our equestrian sports club
Melanie Wies, head of the boarding school, the driving force behind our equestrian activities and the equestrian boarding school, completed her three-year equestrian training in a dressage training stable. She holds a class 1 riding badge, has completed an apprenticeship in horse management with a focus on riding and has been actively competing in dressage, show jumping and eventing for many years and also trains horses herself. Melanie Wies has already successfully participated in European championships, national and international competitions.
Martin Fundis, our full-time equestrian sports representative, is an experienced riding instructor as well as an internationally active and successful advanced (S) level show jumper and a competent dressage rider. He is also co-owner of the equestrian center in Saurach near our school with its own indoor riding arena (40 x 20 m), extensive stables, grass jumping arena, outdoor sand arena and extensive outdoor area.
