Nature & animals at the Schloss-Schule

At a boarding school in Baden-Württemberg: local recreation on your own doorstep

With friends to the nearest lake or to relax or with friends out into nature for sports - in the surroundings of Kirchberg there are many possibilities for exciting and varied leisure activities.

Our school is located on the outskirts of Kirchberg, in the middle of nature, surrounded by meadows and forests. Whether our pupils prefer walking, hiking, fishing, cycling or mountain biking in the forest, all this is possible virtually from our doorstep.

Animals & animal education at the boarding school Gymnasium

Our Schloss-Schul team of animals includes two dogs, four horses and a pond with fish on our school grounds. The grassy areas of our Schloss-Schul grounds are often used by NABU for their sheep. As part of our NABU-AG, our pupils also have the opportunity to get actively involved here, be it shearing sheep, moving sheep, building nesting boxes, etc. Here, too, it's all about learning to take responsibility!

Our animal education approach at the Gymnasium boarding school has also proven to be very successful. The direct, honest and relaxed feedback from the animals provides our children and young people with experiences that can also help them significantly in their interactions with people. On the one hand, the animals' unprejudiced trust strengthens our pupils and creates valuable emotional bridges. On the other hand, the animals also demand clear decisions - there is no room for discussion or evasion. All of this is very good for children and young people and helps to strengthen their cognitive and social potential and cope better with individual problems.

In fact, it has been shown that even direct, repeated contact with our eight horses and three therapy dogs can provide valuable impetus for goal-oriented development. The results are even more positive when the horses are regularly "worked with" with pedagogical support from suitable specialists and responsibility is taken for the animals during (voluntary!) stable work!

We also offer a comprehensive equestrian program with targeted lessons in dressage, jumping, eventing and cross-country riding and offer all the facilities of an equestrian boarding school.

The commitment to the animals is on a voluntary basis. There is no need for pupils who are afraid of animals or dogs to worry.
