NawiPat - Scientific school sponsorships

Since the 2019 / 2020 school year, the "NawiPat" concept has taken place once a year at Schloss-Schule Kirchberg. The aim is to support elementary school in introducing science experiments through sponsorships with secondary schools. The program also serves to get to know a secondary school and thus alleviates any fears that primary school pupils may have when transferring to secondary school . Older pupils act as mentors and benefit from learning through teaching. The whole thing takes place as part of the social internship at the Schloss-Schule.

Beforehand, the Year 9 pupils work on various experiments on predefined topics and create workbooks with questionnaires for the primary school pupils.

Experiments can be, for example:

  • Building a circuit to light up a light bulb
  • Multiple-choice questions on the topic of solar energy as a drive
  • Filtration of "dirty water"
  • Experiments on the solubility of various solids
  • Electrical conductivity of different materials

These experiments then lead the primary school pupils in groups through the chemistry, physics and biology rooms. They read, try things out, experiment and discover lots of new things. The aim is to arouse and strengthen the pupils' curiosity about scientific phenomena and to create a sense of wonder about seemingly everyday things. The Schloss-Schul-Paten mentors are of course on hand with help and advice, guiding the primary school pupils and providing assistance.
The castle school mentors are required to independently put theory into practice and take responsibility for the implementation and execution with the primary school pupils.

The whole program is framed by the transport service with the Schloss-Schul buses, with which the primary school pupils are picked up and brought back, as well as the great catering program by the Schloss-Schule's home economics department.
