Inclusion in the Duke Award network

The Schloss-Schule Kirchberg is now part of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award network, an internationally recognized program for promoting the personal development of young people, which was founded by the renowned progressive educator Kurt Hahn.

Initiated by boarding school director Melanie Wies, membership in this network opens up new opportunities for all local and boarding school students at Schloss-Schule. They can actively participate in the Duke Award, develop their potential, discover new interests, pursue their own goals, take on responsibility, and gain valuable experience in self-efficacy. This strengthens self-confidence, resilience, and social skills—abilities that prepare young people for school, work, and social life.

The program is divided into four areas of competence and offers a balanced mix of personal development and challenge. At each level, the young people commit to a minimum participation time in the individual sections—this structure promotes commitment and perseverance.

Participation in the Duke Award network underscores Schloss-Schule Kirchberg's educational commitment to promoting personal development beyond the mere imparting of knowledge.
