Particularly popular: boarding school in southern Germany!

And a boarding school like ours: in the countryside! Interestingly, families from conurbations in southern Germany in particular prefer a boarding school like ours, which is located in the wider region and in the countryside. But why is that? Apparently the selection criteria have changed ...

In the past, parents who wanted to give their children the benefits of attending a recognized German quality boarding school like ours chose the boarding school together with their child primarily on the basis of their own previous experience, the reputation of the institution, the obvious quality of the school (class size?, facilities?, staffing ratio?, developmental support?, recognition and promotion of potential? Learning aids? ...) or the clearly identifiable strengths of the boarding school (infrastructure?, building?, accommodation?, catering?, supervision?, internationality?, leisure activities? ...).

And indeed, these are still very important selection criteria today because they can be clearly differentiated (in which we as a Schloss-Schule “score” in many respects).

However, we also know from conversations with interested families that, for example, our distinctive feel-good atmosphere also plays an increasingly important role in the selection process!
And this is by no means the only change in the criteria that are particularly relevant today when choosing a boarding school!

In fact, in view of the often depressing developments in metropolitan areas, it is now much more important to many parents than in the past that their children can develop in a particularly relaxed, rural environment and in a particularly beautiful natural setting. Just as this applies to our location in the Hohenlohe/Jagsttal region!

At the same time - and this was also somewhat different in the past - parents attach great importance to their children being able to get home as quickly and easily as possible at the weekend, despite this rural location, because family togetherness (at weekends and during vacations) has obviously become even more important than it was a few generations ago.

The bottom line is therefore: For most families from conurbations in southern Germany who are interested in German boarding schools, the ideal boarding school is therefore almost always located in southern Germany - and is also as easy as possible to reach by public transport! As is the case with us!

After all, after the approx. 10-minute journey on the boarding school's own shuttle minibuses to the nearest IC train stop in Crailsheim, it is only just over an hour by train to Stuttgart or Ulm, around an hour to Nuremberg, just over two hours to Mannheim or Karlsruhe and around three hours to Frankfurt or Munich.

The attitude towards the importance of the ideological basis of the boarding school provider as a selection criterion has also changed in recent decades.

A few generations ago, it was still common to base the choice of a “suitable” boarding school on its denominational orientation, but today this hardly plays a role for many. Many parents even explicitly prefer a non-denominational organization that is solely committed to the idea of open-minded humanism.

Just like us!
