Europe Week at the Schloss-Schule: "Living Europe" under the sign of Albania

  • News

As an accredited European School, the Schloss-Schule actively incorporates European values into its daily school life. A notable example of this was European Week, held from May 4 to 8, which took place under the theme “Europe in Action” to coincide with Europe Day. This year, the focus was on Albania.

The theme week was organized by Steffi Mayer and Andrea Binder. The goal was to give students a better understanding of Europe’s cultural diversity while also shining a spotlight on a country that is often still considered “Europe’s hidden gem.” Presentations and short videos on Albanian culture, history, music, and traditions were prepared for students in various grade levels.

Europe was also brought to life through its cuisine: The cafeteria team led by Angelika Siebert treated the students to Albanian specialties throughout the week. To wrap up European Week, hundreds of Albanian cookies were handed out during the big break, accompanied by modern music—including songs by Dua Lipa. The students were thrilled.

In keeping with the theme, the students also created numerous posters and pictures about Europe and Albania in their art classes. The creative works were displayed throughout the school building, making European Week a tangible experience for everyone.

Europe Week is an integral part of our school’s active European identity. Throughout the school year, various project groups focus on topics such as democracy education, foreign languages, school partnerships and exchange programs, European competence, “European School in the Region,” and quality assurance.
Through initiatives like this, the Schloss-Schule demonstrates just how vibrant and diverse Europe can be—in keeping with the European ideal: “United in diversity.”
