Once again this year, the sixth graders were able to invite their grandparents to the Advent Café of the Generations at the Schloss-Schule on December 16. The children planned and rehearsed the afternoon weeks in advance and were extremely motivated to put together a colorful program, which they led through themselves.
In addition to some Christmas sounds from the guitar, glockenspiel and accordion, the children also delighted their grandparents with Christmas songs, some of which they performed together with their guests. In addition to a dance piece to “Wonderful Dream”, which the girls had rehearsed in PE lessons, two plays were also performed - including the lovingly staged shadow theater “The Stubborn Donkey and the Sweet Thistle”. Another great interlude was a pupil's tap dance to “Hit The Road Jack”.
During a cozy get-together with coffee and cake, the pupils, dressed as “mini Santa Clauses”, handed out small gifts to the grandparents, which they had previously prepared with their teachers. And at the end, the real Santa Claus recited a Christmas story and presented all the children with a small bag of “Gutsle”.
The afternoon was a complete success for young and old alike. The very well-filled dining hall, the many smiling faces and words of thanks from the grandparents - including a tear or two - show that all the preparations were more than worth it.
