Last Sunday, it finally happened and the guests arrived with nine players to compete against our soccer club in various games. The games were played on the artificial turf from 2 p.m. in six 5 vs. 5 games of 10 minutes each, interrupted by two penalty shoot-outs, all games were worth a total of one point and of course the score was counted at the end.
The whole thing turned out to be a close affair and both teams gave each other nothing on the pitch. The first game was a fair 1:1, but game 2 was won 2:1, before game 3 was the best performance of the day with a 3:0. But Urspring did not give up, game 4 ended 1:1 again and game 5 was even lost 1:2. Game 6 was therefore the decisive one, as Urspring also won both penalty shoot-outs played in between, giving them three points, plus two draws and only two wins for the Schloss-Schule. However, the pupils from the soccer club gave their all once again and deserved to win 2:1. In the end, they agreed to play a 15-minute game, which was not scored and then went back to Urspring.
Overall, the day was a complete success, the games were played at a high level and were always fair. We were also able to take revenge on Urspring, who had beaten us 0:6 at the boarding school soccer tournament in Baden-Baden last June; after all, they had now only lost once in six matches played and also won the goal difference with 10:6.
We will probably visit Urspring again this school year and we will also meet up again in Baden-Baden in the summer. Hopefully we will be able to build on today's performance.
