School of the future: Laying the foundations for the technologies of tomorrow with 3DErleben

  • News

We are delighted to have been recognized as a 3DErleben School of the Future! This marks the beginning of an exciting development: we are making targeted investments in technology to give our students the opportunity to implement their creative ideas and gain initial experience with modern, practical tools.

Starting with modern technologies: 3D printing, scanners and laser cutters

The first step on our journey as a school of the future is the acquisition of modern equipment such as 3D printers, scanners and laser cutters. These technologies provide us with the basis for giving our students practical access to the topics of design and production.

3D printing is an example of the digital-to-analog process: students learn to model their ideas digitally and then transform them into physical objects. However, the focus is less on the finished product and more on the construction process - a skill that strengthens creativity and problem-solving skills.

We use scanners and laser cutters to expand the range of possibilities: Students* can enrich their projects with precise engravings, cuts or the digital capture of objects. This creates an initial link between digital design and real implementation.

Looking to the future: maker space and extended reality

Even though we are currently laying the foundations with the technologies mentioned, our long-term goal remains clear: to create our own maker space where students can work with a variety of technologies in a creative environment.

Other tools, such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) applications, will be added later. These will enable students to delve even deeper into digital worlds and experience abstract topics in a vivid and interactive way.

For us, 3DErleben is not just a project, but the start of a journey to make our teaching fit for the future - an exciting challenge that we are tackling with joy and commitment.
